Section 3: Happy Discovering
First and Foremost, thanks for your interest in Q&A. The New Ask The Expert (ATE) show, Q&A, is scheduled to Air January 11th 2020. As of right now, it will either debut on ESPN 580 AM Sundays at 9:00 AM or on WDBO News 96.5 FM. There is still work to do, but the framework and concept are set.
Quick Overview Of Show Concept:
The concept Q&A is simple. Create a place where listeners are educated, inspired and encouraged to improve their home from the inside and outside. It will be a place homeowners turn to get those questions answered by the trusted Pros. So, the question is, how do we take the concept to work as a team, and meet both Lowes and Paramount's marketing goals. So, the key to involving Lowes as a national sponsor in, is quite simple. Lowes must recognize the Ask the Expert Platform is not geared like radio commercial campaign. It's unique. It’s a balance, a dance, between indifference and suggestive marking. In a nutshell, it can't sound like a 40 minute infomercial with an agenda. Here is why: The Central Florida consumer is smart. They hate to be sold, but they love to be helped. They love a great navigator, and they love a great narrative.
Quick Overview of Sponsorship Sponsorship:
What I and WDBO desires is simply put: A single sponsor driven show. Single Sponsorship will ensure Lowes has a platform for messaging, and place where all things lead back to Lowes. Simply put: Lowes will have a platform within a market Home Depot does not . Sponsorship ensures that, both on the radio station and on the show. So let's get you caught up to speed, and let me show you how together we can achieve more. .
Quick Overview Single Host Format:
Single Host Show. A single hosted show consists of a host and a producer. There are 52 shows in a calendar year, and each show is an hour long with 38 – 40 minutes of talk time. Each show has a beginning, middle, and end which is broken down into four segments separated by commercial breaks.
The general design of this host style show is thought provoking and highly suggestive, but effective. We like to call it the 3 big things you need to know. An example of a generic design and topic is sketched out below. Keep in mind, it is a call in show. Depending on the number of callers, sometimes, all planned elements do not get covered. The key would be to answer the question and move quickly back to plan.
Here is how it works: The Design
Let's say Lowes wants to increase the paint department revenue stream and wants to target the DIY crowd. Below is an example outline of how Lowes and Q&A can work together to style the show to achieve that goal.
Each show is approximate 36 - 40 minutes and divided into four segments with commercial breaks.
- Segment 1: 12 - 15 Minutes.
- Segment 2: 4 - 6 Minutes
- Segment 3: 12- 15 Minutes
- Segment 4: 4 - 6 Minutes
Segment One: 12 -15 Minutes

Different Tools That Can Be Used.
Lets say Lowes wants to increase their number of pro contractors, the 3 big things would remain, but we make the point in a different way. We bring in a special guest and have more of a discussion then and an advice oriented show. I can't express enough I would love have Art Lucas discuss with me the journey of Paramount Fencing. That is a story that needs to be told. A specialist from any Lowes Department or Manufacture can guest appear as well.
Let's say Lowes is having a how to clinic, the 3 big things would remain, but create an atmosphere of help. Create a help desk in the store and broadcast live on location The store manager could bring members of the install service or his best pro contractors.
